Summer Event 2022 – The Rise and Rise of Crypto

with No Comments

What the economic infrastructure of tomorrow will look like and how the world of crypto assets is finally growing up

Date: Monday 30th May 2022, 6.00pm to 9.00pm

Venue: Rebellion Film Studios, Didcot, OX11 7HH

The first Oxford Technology & Media event on cryptocurrencies was in in 2015 when Bitcoin was at $240 USD. The subsequent launch of Ethereum and other blockchains has exploded the world of cryptocurrencies and crypto assets in terms of value and innovation. Equally vociferous has been the range of opposition from regulatory authorities and the banking world.

Chaired by OTMN Director Tony Henderson, Oxford Technology & Media was delighted to welcome a distinguished panel with specialist expertise to explore this revolutionary topic including:

  • Ultan Miller – Managing Partner at Saxon Advisers.
  • Oscar Pacey – Chief Executive at Tranquility Node.

Questions we explored include: What is a crypto asset? How can I understand how to invest in one? How does the regulation affect the industry? How does a private placement work? Can I use this to raise start-up funding for my business? Could I create a pension pot using Bitcoin? When will Central Banks create their own Digital Currency (CBDC)?How could crypto assets be used for social good such as funding climate change net zero projects?

Acknowledgement: Oxford Technology & Media would like to thank Oxford North for kindly supporting this Oxford Technology Media Network Event.
